Angry Birds 2 and Multiplayer – Coming Soon!

November 17, 2010 Leave a comment

Rovio has infected the smartphone world with an incurable addiction to their incredibly popular Angry Birds game for Android and iPhone.  How best to treat an addiction?  Release teasers to keep your following drooling for more, and that is just what Roviio’s CEO has done with mention on Angry Birds 2.  This won’t be just another set of new levels, no, no, this is going to be from the enemy pig point of view!  Have such a fierce allegiance to the Angry Birds that you could not foresee switching to the dark side?  You may change your tune when the game hits the market in the near future.  If history is any predictor, this sequel will draw you in and proceed to remove all other worries in your world.  Nothing else will matter.

On to the second, possibly more interesting news, MULTIPLAYER!  Soon you and your friends will be able to share your addictions, battling the evil pigs (or birds…) together!  There is less information about this version of Angry Birds as the development team is still analyzing the best way to bring the multiplayer experience to everyone’s favorite game.  Rest assured it is in the works!

These new versions should keep your addictions going strong for up until they release Angry Birds 3 – Birds on Patrol (insert other threequel reference here…).

Have FiOS? Want to control everything from the comfort of your couch, but your remote control is across the room? Gone are the days of having to actually get UP from the couch to walk across the room. We all know that your device is always at arms length, so why not control it through there?

The FiOS TV Mobile Remote Widget solves the age old problem of what to do when you can’t find your TV’s remote control. Simple – you use your mobile phone! The widget gives customers with compatible phones the ability to change the channel, adjust the volume, control the DVR and literally flick photos from their device onto the TV for viewing.

Now the list of compatible devices includes the Apple iPhone along with the iPod and iPad. Any customer with an HD set-top box can use the Mobile Remote Widget. Aside from the Apple devices, the Widget works with all Motorola DROID phones, the HTC Eris, Incredible, Touch Pro2, Imagio, Hero and Evo, the Nexus One and the Samsung Captivate, Vibrant and Galaxy.

What do you think? Have you tried this before? I have and it works like a charm. I can’t see myself doing this ALL the time, but it’s great in a pinch! Have a compatible device? Give it a shot and let us know what you thought of it!

Dual Dock Connectors In the iPad Refresh?

October 7, 2010 Leave a comment

This is why I almost always wait for the 2nd version of a device to be released and it seems the iPad is no different. The pic above reveals possible dual dock connectors for the probable, upcoming iPad refresh. Here’s a shot of an iPad back case showing the dock connectors both on the bottom of the iPad (as we’re used to) and on the side of the iPad so you can dock it in landscape mode.

The pic above is from the current version of the iPad and the current backplate. I’ll be very tempted to purchase this iPad refresh as I’m pretty certain this is going to happen. You Apple fanatics out there excited for the refresh? Now, my decision will be to either get this bad boy or the Playbook from RIM. Decisions…decisions…

I’ll keep you up-to-date as I obtain more details on the iPad refresh specifications.

Yahoo Mail Goes HTML5 On iPad

August 18, 2010 Leave a comment

Yahoo has let the cat out of the bag with a all new and improved version of Yahoo Mail for the iPad.

“If you’ve used our recently launched HTML5 mobile Web mail for iPhone you’ll feel right at home,” writes Lee Parry, product manager for Yahoo Mail. “We’ve kept all the things users love about our new mobile Web mail experience, while also optimizing for the gorgeous large screen of the iPad.”

If you’re offline, Yahoo! Mail uses local caching capabilities to help you access and search your messages even without an Internet connection.
The new Yahoo Mail also lets you view rich photo attachments in their full form, or as previews directly in the inbox view. There’s a dual-pane view, too.
Search has also been improved. Now you can search using full search, personal folders, or a smart folder of most important contacts.
Photo attachments will also be viewable in their full form or as inbox previews, Yahoo said, and the inbox itself has a dual-pane view.
iPad users can access the improved version of Yahoo Mail using Safari on the iPad at http://mail.yahoo.com.

Anyone excited for this? Not sure how many Yahoo Mail users are out there versus the likes of Google’s Gmail or Microsoft’s Hotmail (Windows Live).

Give us a shout in the comments to let us know how the new Yahoo Mail is working for you.
