BlackBerry Theme Spotlight: Eros by Mobster Mobile Design

From Mobster Mobile Design comes a great, compact theme called Eros. It’s sleek, modern, and ridiculously easy to use and navigate. Here are the features from their website:

    Features:

    Original OS6 icon set on all devices; properly scaled to eliminate icon distortion

    Hidden Today area includes 5 entries for Calendar, SMS, Messages and Phone Calls

    15 customizable scrolling icon dock on the home screen; includes one extra slot for your favorite App

    Small file theme to keep it zippy on your Device

    Wallpaper Friendly

    ALL UPDATES ARE FREE!

Another couple of cool features I noticed are at the top of the screen. Instead of a battery icon and signal bars, this theme actually shows you the percentages for each. This is pretty handy and takes the guesswork out of knowing how long you have until your phone dies.

As with most themes, you can use one of your own images as the wallpaper, but the one that comes with the theme is pretty snazzy. The look and layout is clean and functional, and the scrolling dock and spot for your favorite app make everything easily accessible. Combine these with the small filesize (no phone freezing!) and the low price of $2.99, and you’ve got an amazing theme perfect for anyone!

Get it here in BlackBerry App World or scan the image below to download today!

TSR Theme Spotlight – HEDONEDESIGN V2.0 – FREE

October 8, 2010 Leave a comment

What….??? A FREE theme? Unheard of! However…. to honor HedoneDesign’s 2nd birthday, they’re offering TSR readers their newest theme: HedoneDesign V2.0 ABSOLUTELY FREE!

DESCRIPTION: Whew! What a busy year we’ve had this last year! Before you know it, it’s time for our new FREE V2.0 theme in honour of another birthday here at HedoneDesign.

Much like, and, in the same breath, absolutely nothing like, the original V1.0 theme, V2.0 uses our now-famous “Scalpel” icon-set (having earned that name from it’s obvious sharpness). The home-screen layout, this year however, looks like something straight out of a Stanisaw Lem (Solaris) novel, replete with cream-white plasticine walls, touch-panels and questionable robots named “Maximillian.”

Here are some more screenshots of this great theme, which I will be running today on my BlackBerry:

So, what do you think? Going to jump in and pick up this great theme? Head on over HERE to grab a copy! Big thanks to HedoneDesign and a BIG Happy 2nd Birthday from all of us here at TSR!!!

September 11, 2010 Leave a comment

Hey Blackberry fanatics out there! The crew at Basic Visuals has allowed me to spotlight one of their newest themes, AllStar. This Blackberry theme is as comfortable and pleasing to the eye as your good ‘ol favorite pair of Chuck Taylors. This theme brings the goods!

With 10 small icons in a bottom dock and transparent banners, your favorite wallpaper can shine through, and hidden today for your calendar and messages will keep you on top of your day. Fun wallpapers on each screen, a simple font that’s easy to read, and versatile blue accents throughout the menus and lists will make this a theme you return to again and again.

Here are the features on this super theme:

* 10 small icons on home screen
* Hidden today for calendar and messages
* BlackBerry 6 icons
* Fun wallpaper on each screen
* Easy to use
* Icon set used: Blackberry OS6 OEM Icons Edited by awayu from bbthemelab[dot]com

Minimum Requirements:

* 480×360
* OS 5.0, non-touch screen

Display Dimensions
480×360
Operating System
5.0 Non-Touch

This theme was developed by Twitter user and awesome theme developer, @phishgirl3. I’ve been running this theme though the paces and I’ve really been enjoying it. Eye candy, smooth and no lag are the terms that come to mind with this theme. You will feel right at home rockin’ this bad boy!

The mini-icons provide ample room for your favorite wallpapers even though the built-in wallpaper featuring the Chucks is good-to-go with me. Hidden today is included along with wallpapers on each screen.

August 30, 2010 Leave a comment

You know what? Excellence and variety are 2 of the words that come to mind when I think of Blackberry themes from HedoneDesign. The latest theme from the crew, Skeper, is no exception.

DESCRIPTION: Skeper is for all of You who search amusing, funny, different and in the same time functional. It will entertain You with something new and funny every time You look at Your Blackberry Smartphone.

Let’s have a look-see at this great theme that I’ve just downloaded. Thanks to HedoneDesign for allowing me to review this blockbuster theme.

Take a look at my homescreen above. Pretty darn cool, eh? You can see the smiley face symbol for the battery meter to let you know that you have a good charge. The blue signal is awesome and eye-catching as well. You’ll notice the little “this one” symbol below my Messages icon. This is the indicator to let you know what app/icon you’re pointed towards, which is another great addition from the HedoneDesign crew. The theme kinda makes ya feel young at heart, eh? This theme supplies the eye candy plus functionality as you would expect.

Above is a screenie of my incoming Messages and this truly provides a nice, simple and easy-to-read overview. Did I mention there is absolutely no lag to this theme? Trust me…NO LAG HERE!!!

Above is another capture of my Applications page where you see that all basic icons on your Blackberry are fully-skinned.
I could go on and on about this theme but you just need to give it a shot and experience some Skeper goodness for yourselves.

Below is a video of the theme in action:

You can read more about the theme here. It’s available for a wide variety of BB devices for $6.99 at this link.

Theme Spotlight – OS6Like by HedoneDesign

August 27, 2010 1 comment

Hey everyone, it’s time for a theme review! Thanks to the great folks over at HedoneDesign, we bring you the brand new OS6Like theme, and the name says it all. You’re getting a theme that is designed to look like a device running OS6!

I have been running this theme now for just over 24 hours and I can say that even BEFORE a battery pull, it was running as smooth as….well…. as a baby’s bottom. Zero lag at all! I personally run the Today/Today+ version of any theme I run across (IF it’s an option) as it showcases all that I need to see at a glance – email and calendar events, and these stand out PERFECTLY on the home screen. Very easy on the eyes.

Now let’s get into the specs on this theme:

This is BlackBerry6 replica theme for 4.x and 5.x BlackBerry OS. You will find 16 homescreen icons (12 user customizable) on Bold, Tour and Curve series and 20 (16 user customizable) on Storm series. To get more information on look and feel of this theme you may wanna check out the videos at the bottom of this page.

Theme is prepared in two main options:
- Zen (doesn’t include TodayPreview feature)
- TodayPreview (TodayPreview function included (when Messages or Calendar icon is hovered you’ll see future events or new messages on homescreen))

You can get an idea via the above picture just how clear the menu options are. That is a selling point for me. I have to be able to see what I’m doing, even in menus that I know like the back of my hand, as I’m sure this is how MOST people feel.

This is a very professional looking theme, and it looks great on ANY device! You can pick up this device as well in the HedoneDesign shop for just $6.99!  Head on over and add this to your theme arsenal!

Here are two videos for you to check out, showcasing the theme running on a Storm and also a Bold 9700, found on the official HedoneDesign page:

Hope you enjoy this theme as much as I do, and let us know if you decide to pick it up! Thanks again to the folks at HedoneDesign for letting us know about this great new theme!

You can easily see that the icons are crisp, clean and professional to say the least. It’s very nice to have over 10 icons on your homescreen for all of your important applications and then being able to hide them with a flick of the switch to show off your favorite wallpaper.
